The Department of East Asian Studies (DEAS) is affiliated with the College of International Studies and Social Sciences, National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). 東亞學系(DEAS) 隸屬 國立臺灣師範大學(NTNU), 國際與社會科學學院。 Brief Background 背景簡要 - The Department of East Asian Culture and Development and the Graduate Institute of International Sinology Studies were consolidated into the Department of East Asian Studies (DEAS) in Academic Year 2011, which enrolled students into the undergraduate and master’s programs for “the sinology and culture group” and “the politics and economics group”. The Graduate Institute of Political Science merged with this department in Academic Year 2015, and this department has started to enroll students in the doctoral program in Academic Year 2017, thus achieving complete coverage of program offerings from Undergraduate Programs, Master's Degree Programs to Ph. D. Programs. 東亞文化與發展系 及 國際漢學研究中心 於2011學年合併為東亞學系(DEAS), 提供學生入讀 “漢學與文化組” 和 “政治與經濟組” 的學士和碩士學位課程。 2015學年政治學研究所合併進此系, 2017學年開始提供學生入讀博士學位課程, 從而達成全面完整覆蓋由本科生、碩士 至博士學位課程的所有課程內容。 Beginning from the Academic Year 2018, in order to further cultivate cross-disciplinary professional talents, especially those majoring in Northeast Asia, China, Southeast Asia and surrounding countries, DEAS made changes to the original grouping recruitment system, focusing instead on the integration of multiple disciplines, with “culture and its application” and “political economy and regional development” as the centerpiece subjects. 自2018學年, 為了進一步培養, 尤其著重於 東北亞、中國、東南亞及周邊國家 的跨學科專業人才, DEAS改變了原有以 “文化及其應用” 及 “政治經濟與區域發展” 分組的招生模式, 改為專注多學科融合整合模式。 The undergraduate program of DEAS aims to cultivate all-round talents in the humanistic society field, and award graduates with Bachelor of Social Science (B.S.S.) degrees and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degrees depends on group. Master's Degree Programs aim to cultivate professional talents with independent research and practical capacity, and award graduates with Master of Social Science (M.S.S.) degrees. Ph. D. Programs aim to cultivate professional talents majoring in senior humanities and social studies, and award graduates with Doctor of Social Sciences (Ph.D.) degrees. DEAS學士課程旨在培養人文社會領域全方位人才, 並按組別授予畢業生 社會科學學士學位(B.S.S.) 及 文學學士學位(B.A.)。 碩士學位課程旨在培養具有獨立研究和實踐能力的專業人才, 並授予畢業生 社會科學碩士(M.S.S.) 學位。 博士學位課程旨在培養高級人文和社會研究專業人才, 並授予畢業生 社會科學博士(Ph.D.) 學位。 To date (January 2020), there are 19 full-time faculty in this department, with 9 professors, 9 associate professors and 1 assistant professor, with expertise in the fields of sinology, history, literature, cultural study, international relationship, political science, cross-strait research, finance and economics of East Asia, who can provide students at different educational stages with necessary knowledge and career development. 迄今(2020年1月), 本系常設19位全職教師, 包含9位教授, 9位副教授 以及 1位助理教授, 各自在東亞 漢學、歷史、文學、文化研究、國際關係、政治學、兩岸研究、金融 及 經濟學, 等領域具有專業知識, 可以為處於不同教育階段的學生提供必要的知識和職業發展。 |

Characteristics 特色
The Department of East Asian Studies (DEAS) is the only department of universities in Taiwan offering a complete educational system from undergraduate, master to doctor majoring in East Asian studies. It has developed to be the teaching research unit for multi-disciplinary integrated professional talents and has been dedicated to providing systematical academic training to students majoring in East Asian studies. At the same time, DEAS has established an exchange program with renowned foreign universities in America, Japan, Europe, S.Korea and many Southeast Asian countries offering courses in East Asian studies.
東亞學系(DEAS) 是台灣唯一提供從本科、碩士到博士學位完整教育體系的東亞研究學系。它已發展成為一個多學科綜合專業人才的教學研究單位, 致力於為東亞研究專業的學生提供系統的學術培訓。同時, DEAS與 美國、日本、歐洲、韓國 和許多東南亞國家 有開設東亞研究課程的著名外國大學建立交流計劃。

Full-time faculty in this department possesses excellent educational experiences, abundant research capacity, and high academic reputation, with the research topics covering cultural ideology & application, political economy & regional development. They have also presided over research projects subsidized by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST, 科技部) and their related collaboration with the industries. These researches have achieved fruitful results as well as attained the first-class standard in Taiwan.
本系常設教師皆具有 良好教育經驗, 豐富研究能力 及 高學術聲譽, 研究主題包括文化思想與應用, 政治經濟學 和區域發展。 他們也曾主持由 科技部(MOST) 資助的研究項目以及與產業的相關合作。這些研究取得豐碩成果, 達到台灣一流標準。

The faculty in DEAS comes from a diversified background. DEAS also have Japanese and Korean teachers. Collectively, they provide students with complete teaching content. Meanwhile, DEAS encourages students in the Undergraduate Program and Master Program to participate in the exchange program to East Asia, Europe, and America to broaden their international perspective. Also, given the high percentage of foreign students in DEAS, students can learn cross-cultural differences from each other.

The Undergraduate Program of DEAS aims to cultivate all-round talents in the humanistic field by offering courses that cover “culture and its application” and “political economy and regional development” as well as providing Japanese language and Korean language lessons to achieve cross-regional and cross-disciplinary goals.
Meanwhile, course resources from the Southeast Asian language studies of the NTNU are also introduced to provide students with cross-cultural understanding, basic knowledge, capability and perspective on East Asia. The courses include Introduction to East Asian Culture, East Asian Cultural Heritage, Introduction to East Asian Sinology, Theory and Practice of East Asian Regional Research, Cultural Policies in East Asian Countries and Simulation Practice of East Asian Political Economy.
DEAS的本科課程旨在通過提供涵蓋 “文化及其應用” 和 “政治經濟與區域發展” 的課程, 以培養人文領域的全方位人才。 也提供日語和韓語課程來實現跨地區發展和跨學科目標。
